On Wednesday, August 6th experience a unique garden themed dinner party. Same night, same time in over 40 restaurants as the BC Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier host a “SUMMERDINE” around (formerly chef’s table dinearound).

Be part of a cross British Columbia dining experience as a garden themed, single night, summer culinary event offers dozens of top (and some impossible to get into) restaurants across the province in a unique annual dining event. On Wednesday, August 6th it’s a garden theme on the same night, same time as over 40 restaurants from Vancouver to Victoria and the Okanagan donate a single table in their garden, courtyard, vineyard, urban patio or kitchen table with a multicourse set menu created to inspire the bounty of summer gardens, paired with wine. $79 with all proceeds to Les Dames d’Escoffier. Vancouver & Lower Mainland Restaurants include Hamilton Street Grill, where Chef Neil Wyles has put on an amazing menu; the lovely waterfront setting of Provence Marinaside; a gourmet table on the lawns of the Hart House Restaurant in Burnaby; along the sushi bar at Vancouver Magazine’s “Best Japanese”, ZEST restaurant; Chef Scott Kidd’s North Vancouver Canyon Restaurant; The award winning Nicli Antica Pizzeria; John Blakely’s new Westend bistro Left Bank; six seats have been donated at last year’s favourite, not to mention Vancouver’s best patio, Chill Winston; Bistro 101, the culinary school restaurant at Granville Island’s PICA has pulled out all the stops in their unique setting; Granville Island’s Edible Canada market setting is a perfect way to enjoy true local cuisine; a coveted table at the much anticipated Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar; avoid the lineup at popular Chicha’s Peruvian and at the country’s best known Indian restaurant VIJ’s; Fairmont Hotel Waterfront’s ARC restaurant, home of world class Chef Dana Hauser, caters dinner on their beautiful rooftop patio and the award winning ORU, at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, has donated 6 seats at their “Curator’s Table”; Yaletown’s packed-every-night GoodWolfe Kitchen & Bar; Vancouver’s most talked about vegetarian restaurant Graze; Top Chef Canada Trevor Bird’s Fable, From Farm to Table; Union Street’s Kessel & March Foodshop and Eatery; Vancouver’s most underrated Italian Restaurant, La Terrazza; Kitsilano’s favourite neighbourhood restaurant Gramercy Grill and Chef Andrea Carlson’s award winning Burdock & Co. Victoria and Bowen Island Outside of the Lower Mainland, and just a short ferry ride, Rustique Bistro on Bowen Island takes us into other dining regions. We then move on to Victoria’s great dining scene with a table on the private patio at Bard & Banker; the iconic Fairmont Empress will seat you in the shade garden and equally iconic Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub takes pub dining to a whole new level. Little Jumbo Restaurant & Bar had put craft cocktails on the scene in downtown Victoria, while the setting could not be lovelier on the balcony at The Beach House at Cadboro Bay; Camille’s at Bastion Square is a much loved chef owned dining destination and “diner” dining goes modern at the kitchen table at North 48 restaurant.

Okanagan There are a lot of great restaurants and wineries in the Okanagan, which is why there are a lot of great Les Dames d’Escoffier members in that region, and if you didn’t already wish you lived there this list of participating restaurants will really inspire you. RauDZ Regional Table & Spierhead Winery have come together to create a picnic in the Vineyard for 4 guests in Kelowna – while up in Summerland at LOCAL Lounge & Grille a table for 8 on the patio had been donated. Poppadoms in Kelowna has designed a wonderful menu in a private nook on their patio and Naramata Heritage Inn has created an el fresco dinner at the Forest Green Man Lavender Farm; Chef and Sommelier Mark Filatow of Waterfront Wines Urban Eats + Drink offers up a kitchen table for 4, while up in Oliver, Hester Creek Wineries’ Terrafina Restaurant has donated 8 seats in their lovely courtyard

. A few things you should know; The entire cost of the dinners have been donated by the restaurants, wineries and cideries with 100% of the proceeds to Les Dames d’Escoffier scholarship and outreach programs, which include Project Chef and Growing Chefs. Please thank the restaurants and please leave a gratuity for the staff. Menus are set and include wines (Vancouver Island restaurants also include Sea Cider); a complete list of participating wineries will be included in the next communiqué. Food allergies must be discussed in advance and while they will be taken into consideration, please understand the menus are created with care and are set in advance.
