Les Dames d’Escoffier, BC Chapter, scholarship program supports women in the culinary industry to learn and advance in their field. For 2015, chapter president, Stephanie Jaeger, is thrilled to announce that even greater scholarship dollars will be granted thanks to a banner fundraising year and a significant contribution from one of British Columbia’s most notable culinary figures, John Bishop.

Exciting programs and events throughout the year are supported by Les Dames patrons and chefs, raising funds for both scholarships and outreach programs that include Project Chef and Growing Chefs with the annual Gala, honouring local and international culinary icons, the highlight of the fundraising year.

Bishop, Vancouver’s iconic chef, restaurateur, and the person who created the farm-to-table movement in Canada’s restaurant scene, was honoured by the esteemed group of women at their annual Gala hosted by Four Seasons Hotel, Vancouver. With support from local chefs, Bishop’s patrons and his family, the sold out Gala raised a significant amount of funds to add to the Dames’ scholarship fund aided by a generous auction item donated by Le Crocodile’s Michel Jacob and a significant personal contribution by chef John Bishop.

This year’s annual scholarship applications are accepted now through until February 28, 2015 and are awarded at a reception each spring. Applicants are evaluated by a select group of Les Dames, professional women in the culinary field whose purpose is to promote the understanding, appreciation and knowledge of food, wine, hospitality, nutrition, food technology, the arts of the table, and more.
