SUMMERDINE 2017 – Wednesday, August 16
More than 250 guests – from Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan – enjoyed fabulous meals in this year’s edition of Les Dames BC Summerdine. The venues included private rooms, intimate patios, vineyard terraces, and decks with breath taking views of our beautiful province, all made possible thanks to the gracious support of chefs, restaurateurs and their staff, who greeted our guests and prepared outstanding dinners.
Along with popular restaurants that have been part of Summerdine before, we were excited to add several new participants, as well as two amazing events hosted by Dames on Vancouver Island – a delicious luncheon at Sea Cider Farm, and a luxurious dinner at Providence Farm. Summerdine tickets were sold out, generating over $18,000 in sales, a testament to the broad public support for our Scholarship Program.
Our popular 50/50 ticket draw in Vancouver, awarded a prize of $1,034, with an equal amount going to our Green Tables initiatives. As a bonus to our guests, Savio Volpe (Vancouver) donated a $200 gift certificate for our social media #LDSummerdine contest, with the winning post coming from the Okanagan.
At the core of Summerdine are the many hours that all participating Dames volunteered to make this event happen. Like with all Dames’ events, Summerdine is only possible thanks to the professionalism and dedication of every single one of us, who give their time and effort to plan, coordinate and execute to reach our common goal. Inspired by a quote from one of our dear Dames: “None of us got this far by dreaming small”, as we wrap up this year’s Summerdine, we know we are already dreaming up big dreams for the next one.

Our sold out event was held at the spectacular Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse. The luncheon allowed our guests the opportunity to create new contacts within the community, to discuss and exchange ideas and to share their unique stories and experiences all while enjoying a delightful locally sourced 3 course menu expertly paired with BC wine, including our Dames’ Rose & Sea Cider’s cider.
While mingling with leaders and trend setters our guests engaged with our fabulous guest speakers and browsed our fantastic silent auction & raffle offerings where we raised an additional $1995 for Scholarships.
Through the incredible support of our guests, many local businesses, our phenomenal volunteers and all the hard work of our Victoria Dames and the Summerdine committee the Victoria Summerdine luncheon was an amazing & successful fundraiser. We can’t wait for next year!
Summerdine at Providence Farm[event_embed template=”shortcode-embed-summerdine-logos” event =”5738″ location=”Providence Farm “]
After a very successful Summerdine luncheon on the island last year, we felt we could step up to the “dinner” plate this year. Thanks to Dame Debbie Shore we were able to have access to Providence Farm, a truly Farm to Table restaurant. Our four-course dinner showed locally grown fare celebrating the bounty of the Cowichan Valley as well as dishes cooked in the James Barber Memorial Wood Oven.
Dinner was hosted by Vancouver Island Dames Debbie, Gaetane, Lesley, Mary Jane and Elly. We were very happy to have Co President, Dame Karen Dar Woon as our guest of honour.
In total 8 Island Dames attended plus 41 guests. The food, the wines, the fun and the camaraderie were all above and beyond. We received rave reviews telling us that the event was an enormous success. It was also a great way to expose the general public to Les Dames and explain the goal of Les Dames scholarships. We also had a raffle and a live auction that brought in a resounding $1975 towards our Green Tables initiatives.
